How Rent 2 Rent Works

A Lease Agreement: Just like with international big Brand hotels, the property owner (in this case, the owner of the retail and residential space) would enter into a lease agreement with a tenant, who would typically be a company or individual looking to operate a business out of the retail space while utilising the residential space above.

Management and Operation:

The tenant (often a retail business owner) takes over the management and operation of the entire property. They would be responsible for marketing the retail space, and maintaining the residential units.

Branding and Standards:

If the tenant is an established brand, they may choose to brand the retail space under their name or a sub-brand. They would also ensure that the property meets their standards in terms of cleanliness, aesthetics, and functionality to maintain their brand image.

Revenue Generation:

The tenant generates revenue from both the retail space and the residential units. Revenue from the retail space comes from sales, while revenue from the residential units comes from renting them out to tenants or guests.

Profit Sharing or Fixed Rent

Similar to the hotel model, the property owner may receive a fixed rental income from the tenant or share in the profits generated by the property, depending on the terms negotiated between the parties

Renewal or Termination

At the end of the lease term, the parties may choose to renew the agreement, renegotiate terms, or terminate the lease based on various factors such as market conditions, property performance, and changes in ownership objectives
